La Liga holders Barcelona avoided a shock at home against Real Oviedo as they turned the game around and won 3-1 in the sixth round of the 2025-26 season.
The Catalan side, led by German coach Hansi Flick, continue to chase their old rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table. Both teams are still unbeaten as they head into the seventh round next week.
Barcelona take a historic win over Real Oviedo

Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Juan Garcia, made a huge mistake when he rushed out of his area and advanced near the halfway line. Oviedo’s Alberto Reina made the most of the error and fired from 35 metres, scoring into the empty net to end the first half 1-0.
Stats from Mr Chip on the X platform said Barcelona had not let in a goal from that distance in La Liga since 19 May 2019, when Pablo de Blasis of Eibar scored from 35 metres.
The champions hit back in the second half with two goals in 14 minutes. Eric Garcia struck first, then Robert Lewandowski scored in the 70th minute. Ronald Araujo sealed the win in the 88th minute, giving Barça a long-awaited win over Oviedo.
This was the first time Barça managed a league win against Real Oviedo after going behind at half-time. Before this match, they had played 12 games in this situation, with only one draw and 11 defeats, until they broke the curse on Thursday night.
Lewandowski, now 38, has kept up his strong scoring run this season. He is the top goal scorer from the bench in La Liga so far, with three goals.
The ex-Bayern Munich striker has now drawn level with Brazilian forward Neymar, who played for Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, with both scoring 105 La Liga goals each.
This result pushed Barça into second place on 16 points, with five wins and one draw, two points behind leaders Real Madrid, who still have a perfect record. Oviedo stay in 18th with only three points after one win and five defeats.
